Why Farm Equipment Wears Parts Differently

A cylinder on a tractor or a combine strokes hundreds of times a day, in a cloud of field dust that lands on the rod at every extension. Fertiliser, chemicals and rainwater reach the same surface, working on the chrome and the welds long after the machine is back in the shed. Shock loads add wear a factory floor rarely sees: a bucket hitting frozen ground, an implement dropped at speed at row's end.

Then the season closes and the machine sits idle through winter, corroding quietly instead of wearing down. A worn cylinder during harvest costs more than the part: it costs a day, sometimes a week, of downtime the crop cannot wait out. Components built for agriculture have to survive that duty cycle and still ship fast when a machine goes down mid-harvest.

On a farm machine a cylinder is a wear part. Bores run 20–1000 mm at up to 500 bar, with induction-hardened rods and hard chrome plating for dust, fertiliser and moisture duty.

Machining and Gears

Gearbox shafts, PTO gearing and manifold housings come off the same CNC floor, cut and ground to ISO 1328 accuracy and case-hardened where the drawing calls for it. Parts up to 2 m in diameter and 16 m long are within scope.

Aluminium Die Casting

A die-cast housing saves weight over a machined steel equivalent, which matters on anything carried on a boom or linkage arm. The process holds ±0.1–0.3 mm tolerance, Ra 1.6–6.3 finish.

Powder Metallurgy and MIM

Powder Metallurgy and MIM

Pressing and sintering a gear near final shape is usually faster and cheaper than cutting it from bar stock once volumes rise. Pressing runs to 800 MPa, sintered density to 97%, tolerance to ±0.05 mm as sintered, ±0.02 mm on MIM parts.

Cemented Carbides

Cemented Carbides

Soil is abrasive, and a part in constant contact with it wears fast if made from ordinary steel. Tungsten carbide (WC-Co), graded to ISO 513, holds a wear surface far longer, which suits tillage tooling and other ground-engaging parts.

Aftermarket

Replacement and Repair

Many orders are not for a new machine. They are for a part that already failed, on a machine running a decade or more. We build to your drawing when you have one, and reverse-engineer from a worn part or sample when you do not, matching bore, stroke and mounting geometry.

A rod, a tube, a gland or a seal kit is available separately for field repair. If a part fails every season on your fleet, plan a batch ahead of time: ordering before the season starts lowers the per-unit cost and puts the part on the shelf before you need it.

ISO 4254 applies to the finished machine and is the OEM's responsibility. We list it because your machine is designed to it, and our components arrive with the documentation needed to fit inside that design.

Quality Control

Every order passes through the same three-stage control we run across the shop floor: incoming material checked against its certificate, in-process dimensions tracked through machining, heat treatment or plating, and a final inspection before shipment.

Cylinders and pumps get a pressure and leak test on every unit, without sampling. Gears and machined parts are measured on coordinate measuring machines and profilometers against drawing tolerance, with results kept on record. Calibrated gauges and trained operators sit behind every measurement; independent third-party inspection is available on request.

FAQ

What is the minimum order quantity?

It depends on part size and process. A single reverse-engineered replacement can make sense on its own; other parts only pay off in a batch. Tell us the part and quantity and we will tell you where that line sits.

Can you work from a worn part instead of a drawing?

Yes. Send the part, or a photo with key dimensions, and we reverse-engineer the geometry, mounting points included, before we quote.

Can I order a batch ahead of the season?

Yes, and it is usually cheaper. Ordering before the season starts avoids a rush premium and keeps a machine off backorder.

Do you deliver across the EU?

Yes, from our own production floor to OEMs, dealers and repair shops across the EU.
